Community-Focused Austin Town Hall Market Plans Special Thursday

Grill Master Demo and More

Austin Town Hall Farmers Market, part of the city-run Chicago Farmers Market program, is located in the under-resourced neighborhood of Austin on the city's far West Side. Under the leadership of Market Manager Veah Larde, the market serves as a community center, a promoter of economic opportunity through food, and a place where local residents can connect with organizations providing vital services.

You can get a flavor of all of this on Thursday (August 22), when the market at 5610 W. Lake St. holds a special event during its weekly session from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

In addition to its regular vendor lineup, Austin Town Hall Farmers Market features a BBQ Cooking demonstration by Smoky Soul BBQ's Chef Daniel Hammond, sponsored by Weber Grill, from 2:30 to 4:00.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with Oak Street Health, which provides care for older individuals, and can hear from CTA officials about their vision for the future of the city's bus service.

The market's press release about the event is below.
