Green City Market's Chef BBQ Feast Lived Up to Epic Reputation

Tickets Bought By More Than 2,000 Attendees to Help Fund Market's Programs

Chicago's Green City Market celebrated its 25th Chef BBQ fundraiser this past Thursday (September 10). The event, never less than epic, provided a reported 2,000+ attendees with unlimited tastes of dishes and beverages created by more than 100 restaurants and producers, plus opportunities to say hello to some of the region's most revered chefs.
The most important part, though, is the revenue from ticket sales and sponsorships go toward the operations of what is widely regarded as the area's premier farmers market non-profit — including its program that advances food security by tripling the value of food assistance benefits.
I have been a regular at the Chef BBQ over the past several years. Back in my voracious youth, I would have regarded an all-you-can-eat feast like this as a challenge to try as many treats as I could. But with age comes wisdom, one hopes, and also restraints. So as delicious as everything I tried was, as soon as I felt full, I called it a night. But oh, what a night.
Here are some of the photos I took while I walked about wearing off calories.
