Learn About Microgreen Production While Enjoying a Sumptuous Meal

To many people, the term "farm dinner" conjures thoughts about outdoor summertime events. But there are also indoor farm dinners, and you can attend one this Saturday evening (March 7) at Closed Loop Farms, one of the city's leading producers of microgreens.

The dinner will take place, starting at 5 p.m., in Closed Loop's home at The Plant, 1400 W. 46th St. on Chicago's South Side. The Plant is a collaborative community of small food businesses and is a center for circular production, a regenerative system that focuses on minimizing food waste.

The "Farm Tea" dinner includes a five-course family-style meal composed by Chef Ryan Fakih of Beity, a highly regarded Lebanese restaurant located in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood, with tea pairings from Volition and beautiful ceramics from Monsoon Pottery.

If you have eaten microgreens in a Chicago restaurant, odds are good that they were sourced from Closed Loop Farms. The company services more than 200 restaurants, including some of the region's biggest names.

Closed Loop also is on shelf at several retail locations around the city, including Wild Onion Market Co-op in the Rogers Park neighborhood, as seen in the above photo taken Saturday (February 28).
