Filmed in Locations Around the World, Documentary Sees Cattle as Net Plus

This past Friday (October 9), I had the opportunity to view "World Without Cows," a documentary created and directed by veteran journalists Michelle Michael and Brandon Whitworth. It is beautifully crafted — after five years and visits to 22 countries by the directors — and thought-provoking.

I can recommend World Without Cows without reservation.

The film is the latest work that urges reconsideration of the strong belief among many better-for-people-and-the-planet food advocates that cattle raising has an overwhelmingly negative impact on the environment.

I am a strong advocate of regenerative agriculture and the role played by rotationally raised livestock in improving (or repairing soil health) and potentially capturing carbon is soil and reducing the damaging impacts of global climate change. This documentary leans heavily on the rising deployment of regenerative practices.

I will soon publish a much deeper analysis of the film, but I need to share some time sensitive scheduling information.

The film's run at the River East 21 movie complex in downtown Chicago's Streeterville neighborhood is wrapping up tomorrow (Thursday, October 15).

But today (October 14), World Without Cows is entering broader distribution across the Midwest and beyond, with showings in suburban Chicago (Addison and Gurnee, Illinois); California (Santa Barbara); Iowa (Cedar Rapids, Iowa City); Kentucky (Nicholasville); Minnesota (Duluth, Oakdale, Waite Park); Missouri (Cape Girardeau, St. Charles, St. Louis); Nebraska (Lincoln, Omaha); North Dakota (Fargo); Ohio (Bellefontaine, Columbus); Pennsylvania (Allentown); Texas (Fort Worth); and Wisconsin (Appleton, Delafield, Green Bay, Madison, Menomenee Falls, New Berlin, Oak Creek, Oshkosh, Sheboygan)
