Lunch Event at Star Farm Market is This Friday (May 15)

Star Farm Chicago began with a simple premise: create a welcoming green space and grow fresh food in Back of the Yards, a South Side Chicago neighborhood that lacked both. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the organization and its founder Stephanie Dunn are also celebrating a long-sought achievement: the opening last year of their Star Farm Fresh Market, a community and event space.
This Friday (May 15), the market (5256 S. Ashland Ave.) will host Star Farm Chicago's Spring Luncheon with a panel titled Women Advancing Food and Community Systems. Here is how Star Farm describes the event:
We’re bringing together community leaders, partners and supporters to celebrate the women shaping more equitable and resilient food systems in our neighborhood.
Through a panel discussion, you’ll hear from educators, workforce development leaders, sustainability advocates and community members who are co-creating solutions that expand food access and opportunity. This gathering is both a celebration and an invitation to learn, connect, and continue growing this work together.
We offer sliding scale tickets to ensure everyone who wants to be part of this conversation can join us. Choose the level that feels right for you, and come take your seat at the table.

I greatly admire the work done by Stephanie and her team. To learn more, click the button below and read Local Food Forum's profile of the organization published on April 8.
