Take a Ride in the Country Saturday for Cool Local Music and Food

How about a ride in the country to enjoy great local musicians and eat delicious local food while providing crucial financial support to an important food non-profit? All this can be yours this Saturday (August 23) at the Alfalfa Festival, presented by the Farmers Rising farmer education organization in Caledonia, Illinois, located just east of Rockford and about 90 miles northwest of downtown Chicago.
Gates will open at 3 p.m. with its live regional music lineup starting at 3:30 p.m. The event is scheduled to end at 10 p.m.
The menu of food that will be available for purchase has just been finalized, and it includes brisket sandwiches made with pasture raised beef, a box of roasted garlic and red pepper hummus, roasted sweet corn, fresh melon, potato chips (Old Salty's), jumbo chocolate chip cookie, and root beer floats
And here are the previously announced music acts — highlighting local and regional talent — with their scheduled performance times:

4:45 — Dave Skupien
5:30 — The Curses
6:15 — Midwest Silhouttes
7:15 — The Sophie Coyote Band

We are offering special deals for event sponsors and volunteers.
Food, beer, and merch will be available for purchase when the gates open at 3 pm.
No outside food or drinks are allowed in the festival area.
Free water will be provided; please bring your own water bottle.
Alfalfa Fest is a low-impact, cash-only event.
Please carpool and be prepared to pack out what you pack in.
No dogs are allowed except for service animals.
Please contact programs@farmersrising.org as soon as possible if you need a service animal or access accommodation. (This event will be outdoors, on grass, gravel, and uneven ground.)
