Got a Great Value-Added Product in Mind? Join Their Aug. 6 Virtual Info Session

Commercial kitchens provide opportunities for farms to leverage the food they produce into value-added products — and provide platforms for talented cooks and bakers who want to market what they make, but do not have the resources to build their own production facilities.
Local Food Forum is excited to learn that a new commercial kitchen will open next year in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. It will be located in Crystal Lake at McHenry County College's Carey Center for Agrarian Learning, which plays an important educational role for the region's farm and food communities.
And the Center is holding a free virtual info session on August 6 (Thursday next week) at 5:30 p.m. Here's how the organizers describe the event.
The Carey Center for Agrarian Learning at MCC will have a commercial kitchen available to farmers and food entrepreneurs to make value-added products in 2027. Imagine pickles, cookies, hot sauce, chopped frozen carrots, or pesto, to name a few. This kitchen will include cold processing, hot processing, cooler and freezer storage.
Bring your ideas and questions to this 45-minute virtual info session and learn more about the equipment available, rental fees, and the schedule of completion.
Our goal is to help you test your recipes, test your markets, and test your capacity in an affordable community space.
Thursday August 6 at 5:30 pm
Registration is free and required. Please register at this link.
A Zoom link will be emailed to you prior to the event.
