Organizers Seek More Community Engagement in Planning the Event

Illinois Stewardship Alliance — the state's leading public policy advocate for the local food and farm community — has announced that it is postponing its first-ever conference, previously scheduled for March 24 and 25.
The Alliance remains committed to the conference concept. But they have pushed it back in order to give their team more time to engage with the broader food and farm community in order to get their ideas and participation in staging the conference.
Liz Stelk, the Alliance's executive director, explained this in an email sent to Alliance followers Wednesday (March 4):
ISA is postponing our new Dig Deep, Rise Together Conference and Advocacy Day until next spring.
Farmers and chefs know timing is everything. You can't rush a good thing.
Pausing now gives us time and space to engage more farmers, eaters, and food system leaders in the design so that when we gather next spring, it’ll be shaped by you and reflect what matters most to this community.
Â
In the coming weeks, you’ll receive invitations to join us for some mini-Advocacy Days in Springfield to support farms and local food, and opportunities to help design the 2027 conference.
Local Food Forum will update about this matter as part of our overall coverage of Illinois Stewardship Alliance activities.
