Kimchi Class Saturday, Women's Health Talk Sunday

Earlier this week I published a listing of upcoming Chicago-area food events. In it, I noted that there are always a few days each year in which there is a cluster of events, all worth attending — and that this coming Saturday (August 22) is one of them, with Farmers Rising's Alfalfa Music Festival, a Chicago urban farm dinner at Closed Loop Farms, and the Obama Presidential Center's already sold out panel discussion on Food and the American Story followed by a tasting event featuring leading chefs.
Well, thanks to my friends at Wild Onion Market — the co-op grocery store in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood — we can add another option to the list (and they also have an event on Sunday).
The Saturday event is the Kimchi: Just for Fun Workshop, to be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the store, located at 7007 N. Clark St. Here's the description from the market:
Discover the traditions and techniques behind one of Korea’s most iconic fermented foods.
Kyung-yeon from Kimchi Just for Fun, is going to make a late summer water kimchi that everyone will get to jar and take home. The workshop will end with a simple Korean meal that pairs with the kimchi so folks will have the opportunity to try it right away with some food.
This workshop is limited to 15 attendees so register today before space runs out!

And on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., you can join wellness educator Ifeoma Ajuzie for "The Grocery Goddess: Anti-Inflammatory Diets & Women’s Health."
Join wellness educator and social media creator Ifeoma Ajuzie, known as The Grocery Goddess, for an engaging discussion on anti-inflammatory eating and women’s health. Drawing on her passion for nutrition and healthy living, Ifeoma will explore foods that may help reduce inflammation, discuss common dietary triggers, and share practical tips for building nourishing meals using everyday ingredients. Whether you’re beginning your wellness journey or looking for new ideas in the kitchen, you’ll leave with inspiration and practical takeaways.
Click the button below to register, and the market asks that you sign up for only one of the two 50-minute discussions.
