Green City Market, a flagship of the Chicago region's farmers market community, has two Saturdays to go in its 2025 outdoor market season at both its Lincoln Park and West Loop locations.

But they have signaled the December 6 kickoff of their Saturday winter market with the announcement that they are moving from their previous location... though not very far.

After three seasons in a small building at 3031 N. Rockwell St. in Chicago's Avondale neighborhood, they are moving their winter market into the modernized industrial complex known as Rockwell on the River. According to the market, the new location is just 700 feet north of the old one.

Rockwell on the River — which references its location on the North Branch of the Chicago River — hosts Metropolis Coffee Co.; Judson and Moore craft distillery; a branch of the Soul and Smoke BBQ restaurants; and the offices of Green City Market.

While I'm typically an early morning farmers market shopper, I may just have to show up later in the day to avail myself of that excellent BBQ and whiskey.

Note to readers: I had hoped to have at least a preliminary schedule of Chicago-region winter markets out already, but being laid up with a health condition for two weeks has delayed me. I am planning to have my first take out before next weekend.
