South Side Urban Farming Organization Expands Food Access and Job Opportunity

Since its founding in 2022, the Growing Home non-profit organization has had an enormous social and community impact.
Its small urban farms in the Englewood neighborhood on Chicago's South Side annually produce many tons of delicious organic food, much of which is used to expand healthy food access to residents of its under-resourced community. Growing Home is also renowned for its practice of hiring and providing job skills to formerly incarcerated individuals and others facing obstacles to gaining employment.
You can support Growing Home's efforts while enjoying an exciting evening out at its 24th Annual Benefit event that will be held on the evening of Thursday, May 7 at the Salvage One event space (1840 W. Hubbard in the city's West Town neighborhood).
Here's how the organizers describe the event:
The 2026 Growing Home Gala will be a spectacular evening where we celebrate the impact of one job, one meal, one community changed. Our benefit will feature inspiring stories of resilience and achievement, showcasing how nurturing connections and providing support have empowered our community to thrive.
Guests will enjoy an immersive evening with elegant decor, heartfelt speeches and engaging activities. Attendees will have the opportunity to reflect on past successes and our vision of nurturing growth in our community. Together, we will continue to embrace the shared vision of building a brighter, stronger community where everyone can grow and flourish with the support of donors like you.
This unforgettable night is not only a testament to the power of collective action but also a call to continue nurturing growth for generations to come.
