Livestock Farmers: FACT's Fund-a Farmer Grant Applications are Open
Apply for Welfare Improvement or Systems Change and Innovation Grants
Food Animal Concerns Trust (FACT) — one of the nation's leading advocates for humane treatment of livestock — has just opened its applications for its annual Fund-a-Farmer grant cycle.
Livestock farmers can apply for two kinds of grants:
Systems and Innovation Grant for Up to $10,000: The deadline to apply for the Systems and Innovation Grant is January 10, 2026 @11:59pm ET (10:59 central).
Animal Welfare Improvement Grants: The applications for Animal Welfare Grants close when FACT receives 300 eligible proposals or on January 10, 2026 @11:59pm ET (10:59 central), whichever comes first.
According to the organization:
Since 2012, FACT has awarded 839 grants to farmers totaling over $1,840,000 to improve farm animal welfare, expand humane farming, and support capital and operational work. This year, we distributed almost $280,000 to 75 farms.

FACT's Fund-a-Farmer grants are now OPEN! The deadline to apply for the Systems and Innovation Grant is January 10, 2026 @11:59pm ET. We will close the Animal Welfare Grants when we receive 300 eligible proposals or January 10, 2026 @11:59pmET whichever comes first. We will have a counter on the grants page with updates on how many eligible applications have been submitted.
Grant awardees are announced at the end of February 2027 with fund dispersal the 2nd week in March. Projects should be completed by June 1, 2028
We have two different Fund-a-Farmer grant opportunities again this season:
You can apply for both!
Fund-a-Farmer Welfare Improvement Grants up to $3,500 each
Four Fund-a-Farmer Systems Change and Innovation Grants for up to $10,000.
You can apply for either grant or both. If you are lucky enough to be awarded both grants, you will only receive funding for one (your choice). Learn more about each grant type on FACT's grant page
Our Fund-a-Farmer grants are very competitive. As such, each farm or individual can only be awarded a grant once every other year. This means if you received a grant in 2026 you’ll need to sit this year out. You are, however, eligible to apply for a Systems & Innovation Grant if your project fulfills the criteria.
