One of Chicago's Oldest Farmers Markets is Throwing a Party on Wednesday
Chicago-area residents: Celebrate National Farmers Market Week this Wednesday (August 7) at the Taste of Ravinia Festival. This 13-hour event is presented by Ravinia Farmers Market — one of the region's longest-running farmers markets — located in north suburban Highland Park at 486 Roger Williams Drive.
The market is located near (but is not directly associated with) the Ravinia outdoor summer music festival site. It is easily accessible by car and is just a block away from the Ravinia station on Metra's Union Pacific North commuter train line.
Ed Kugler, Ravinia's Farmers Market Manager and a longtime fixture in our region's organic and local food communities, is the lead organizer of the event.
The day will start with the market's regular Wednesday session, which runs from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Live music performances will begin at 9 a.m. and will run through the festival hours. Food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the day, and nearby merchants in the Ravinia District will offer discounts.
Plus, there will be a drawing for tickets to two Ravinia Festival concerts: an Aug. 29 concert featuring national headliners ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd, and an Aug. 14 concert featuring Robert Glasper and J. Ivy.
Details are provided in the accompanying graphics provided by the organizers, or you can click below to visit the Ravinia Farmers Market website.
