Read on About How You Can Tune In
Farm Aid, the musician-driven non-profit that has worked since 1985 to support family farmers and to build a better food system, is holding its annual Farm Aid Festival on Saturday (September 21) in Saratoga Springs, New York. I've attended twice — here in Chicago in 2015 and last year outside Indianapolis — and it is such an inspiration that I'm flying east to cover it for Local Food Forum again.
But here's the good news... If you aren't attending, you can still watch the festival live! Here are the details from Farm Aid about how to tune in:
Watch on FarmAid.org or our YouTube channel. We'll livestream the full festival (including our press event) from the stage beginning at 11:30 a.m. ET.
Â
SiriusXM subscribers can listen to Farm Aid 2024 starting at noon ET on SiriusXM’s Willie’s Roadhouse (channel 61) and Dave Matthews Band Radio (channel 30) via SiriusXM radio and on the SXM app. Live coverage will include backstage interviews with artists and family farmers, hosted by SiriusXM’s Dallas Wayne, Ari Fink and Joey Black. Eligible customers can get their first three months of SiriusXM streaming for free. Click here to see offer details, sign up and experience all that SiriusXM has to offer.
The press event they mention above is definitely worth watching. Farm Aid co-founders Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp, along with fellow musician-Board members Dave Matthews and Margo Price, share their passion for the issues and the people that Farm Aid represents, and you'll get to virtually meet farmers from the venue's region who work in their own ways to build a healthier, more sustainable, more humane, fairer and economically resilient food system.
The lineup for the Main Stage performances:
Kontiwennenha:Wi (American Indian singing society)
Wisdom Indian Dancers
Jesse Welles
Cassandra Lewis
Southern Avenue
Joy Oladokun
Charley Crockett
Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats
Lukas Nelson with the Travelin' McCourys
Mavis Staples
And the evening headliners...
Margo Price
Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds
John Mellencamp
Neil Young
Willie Nelson & Family
Will there be an unannounced performer, as Bob Dylan was at last year's Farm Aid concert? They kept that one totally under wraps, so we'll just have to wait and see.
And stay tuned for my coverage of this amazing event, which will also include panel discussions on major issues, the Homegrown Village of non-profits working on the issues we care about so much, and some of the delicious eats at the Homegrown Concessions.
