Cookout in the Galewood Community Features Illinois State Rep. Camille Lilly

This coming weekend is the first of summer, aka cookout season. So how do free grilled hot dogs and hamburgers sound to you?
The occasion is "Beef Up the Block," which takes place at Sayre Language Academy, 1850 N. Newland Ave., in the Galewood community on Chicago's Far West Side. It is co-presented by local state Rep. Camille Y. Lilly, the Illinois House assistant majority leader, and the Illinois Farm Bureau affiliate in Menard County — located north of Springfield in downstate Illinois — as part of its Adopt-a-Legislator program.
According to the organizers, "Enjoy a free lunch featuring locally raised beef, meet local farmers, and learn where your food comes from. Everyone is welcome — come celebrate the connection between city and county."
The event is co-presented by state Senate President Don Harmon, who lives in the nearby suburb of Oak Park.
Thanks to friend Erin Drain, a creative consultant and Galewood resident, for the tip.
