Plant Care Knowledge with Side Order of Tasty Tomato Treats

Local Food Forum enjoys sharing information about friend Bob Zeni, known to the local food gardening community as Chicago Tomato Man. As a high-rise dweller, I don't even grow tomatoes, but I get a kick scrolling online through his catalogue of nearly 200 tomato starter plants, many of which I guarantee you've never heard of before.
With the growing season nigh, Bob last Saturday (April 26) threw a Tomatopalooza kickoff party at The Roof Crop, a design-focused urban agriculture initiative that values and promotes sustainability, ecology and community engagement.
I was unable to attend because I had business in Michigan that day, but Bob shared these photos to provide the day's color.

Bob Zeni provided a plant care master class for attendees.

Chicago Tomato Man has some starter plants left to sell. But reservations at its pop-up pickup locations are going fast. Click the button below to visit the website and make your purchases.
