This past weekend brought the last of four bold Chicago region outdoor farmers market that challenged (successfully) our unpredicatable April weather.

Now brace yourself for the first big surge of market openings as May gets under way.

There are 10 season openers, just between this coming Thursday and Sunday, that have been added to Local Food Forum's market schedule tracker. The list below also give you a preview of the openings to expect the following week

We've changing things around a little with Local Food Forum's market coverage. In our previous four market years, we published the schedule every week. But since we now have this slick website, the schedule will be permanently pinned to the home page (though we will publish a reminder early each week in the Substack newsletter).

The market list will be updated weekly.

Also, we won't forget the indoor markets that continue their seasons into May: They will be found at the bottom of the schedule posting.

I hope you find the schedule useful and access it often. And it is SO important to support our local farmers, so please share the schedule and urge people you know to join the happy crowds at the farmer market(s) of their choice.
