Last Chance to Get Superb Locally Produced Food for Your Thanksgiving Table

The Chicago region's amazing outdoor farmers market season comes full circle. There are only three outdoor markets (out of more than 100 during the summer peak season) that are still open, and they will be ringing down the curtain after giving customers one last chance to buy beautiful locally produced food for their Thanksgiving feasts.
Green City Market's flagship location — where the outdoor season kicked off on April 5 — will be open Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m, as will The Lincoln Park Farmers Market, located about 3/4 mile west at 724 W. Armitage. Green City's satellite location in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood (900 W. Monroe) will be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There are also a handful of winter markets in the region that already are open for their season. The health setback that's plagued me for almost a month has delayed me in processing these, but Illinois Farmers Market Association has a comprehensive schedule for the whole state that you can access by clicking the button below.
One of the most frustrating parts of the damn cellulitis and its aftereffects is that I've missed the whole last month of the outdoor farmers season. If you know anything about me and Local Food Forum, you know how much I love farmers markets (and the farmers who sell at them). I can't apologize because I didn't bring this on myself, but I sure do have regrets.
The good news is that I finally am close to feeling fully healthy again, and I absolutely intend to be hitting some of the winter markets very soon.

Closing with the haul from that last Green City Lincoln Park market last November.
