Whether you are experiencing a Dry January or just interested in expanding your mixology repertoire, there's an alcohol-free cocktail competition and tasting event that takes place in Chicago on the evening of January 18 that sounds like fun.

Titled "No I.D." — because no one needs to be carded — this event is presented at the Artifact Events space at 4325 N. Ravenswood Ave. in an area better known (somewhat ironically) as Malt Row for its concentration of breweries and distilled spirits.

Here's how the organizers describe the event:

DRY JANUARY DOESN’T HAVE TO BE BORING!

This January, put the booze down, leave your I.D. at home, and join us for our 3rd Annual No I.D. Alcohol-Free Cocktail Competition & Tasting Event — a celebration of creativity, community, and seriously good zero-proof drinks.

A selection of stellar bartenders and mixologists from some of Chicago's most distinguished bars and restaurants will be mixing up drinks and competing for top zero-proof cocktails along with a panel of judges. Not only do you get to sample their delightful creations, but you also get to vote for your favorite and help decide the winner!

In addition, a bunch of local and national non-alcoholic spirits, wine, beer, and seltzer brands will provide tastings of their delicious offerings. So drink as much as you want, hangover-free!

A portion of all ticket sales will benefit Ben's Friends, an inspiring charity supporting food and beverage professionals affected by addiction.
