Check out my market haul, and don't forget today's Chicago Chefs Cookbook launch
Saturday in the Park, I Think I Have Some Produce to Buy
With the Chicago Chefs Cookbook launch at Mariano’s Lakeview on my calendar for 11 a.m. (details below), I had to make an early morning dash to Green City Market in Lincoln Park, and just have time to show off today’s market haul. I will, however, have more photos in tomorrow’s issue with some of the newer seasonal stuff that is flowing into the markets as we approach mid-May.
Here is what’s in the haul, from left: carrots from Tomato Mountain (Brooklyn, Wisconsin); Hakurai turnips from Jacobson Family Farms (Antioch, Illinois); more marvelous lettuce plus fresh dill from Flatwater Farms (Buchanan, Michigan); heirloom tomoates and red spring onions from Nichols Farm and Orchard (Marengo, Illinois); a loaf of polenta sourdourgh bread from Dorothy’s Bistro (Chicago); Bacchus radishes from Froggy Meadow Farm (Beloit, Wisconsin); asparagus from Mick Klug Farms (St. Joseph, Michigan); and cremini mushrooms from River Valley Ranch (Burlington, Wisconsin).
