Local Food Dispatch Highlights Two Big Events, Two Market Anniversaries

I've had a longtime working alliance with Natural Awakenings Chicago and its publisher, Peggy Malecki. I'm pleased to share that the publication is now sharing my monthly Local Food Dispatch, which highlights events and seasonal food information from around the Chicago region.


The August 2025 Dispatch includes:


  • Details about the Alfalfa Rising music festival/fundraising that is being presented this coming Saturday (August 23) by the Farmers Rising farmer education non-profit at its base of operations in Caledonia, Illinois (located near Rockford and about 90 miles northwest of Chicago).

  • Highlights of what to expect at the epic Chef BBQ fundraiser staged by Green City Market, the trailblazing non-profit farmers market organization in Chicago.

  • Happy anniversary to two pillars of the Chicago area farmers market community — the Oak Park Farmers Market and the Evanston Farmers Market — which are marking their 50th year of serving our local food community.
