Announcement Syncs With Cookbook Author's New PBS Cooking Show

Anupy Singla is the cookbook author and "Indian as Apple Pie" entrepreneur whose PBS Indian cooking show (also Indian as Apple Pie) recently launched an eight-week run of its first season. I have known Anupy for 12 years and had the pleasure of attending the May 2 watch party for the show's premiere, held at the Second City comedy club.
Informative, entertaining and apt to make you want to run out and get ingredients, the show is being distributed by American Public Television. It is aired on Saturdays at 4 p.m. central by Chicago's WTTW; check your local listings elsewhere. And if you miss a segment, you can catch up by visiting the Indian as Apple Pie page on the WTTW site.

The program is just part of Anupy's exciting May, though. On Wednesday (May 6), she officially announced the launch of Indian as Apple Pie frozen meals.
I can vouch personally that her recipes are absolutely delicious, as the party's attendees were invited to sample them at a reception buffet.

Truly flavorful restaurant-quality food. The products are currently in limited release (see press release below) but Anupy is seeking more shelf placements. Retailers interested in Indian as Apple Pie's products should contact distributor Fortune Fish & Gourmet.

Indian As Apple Pie Launches 4 Frozen Entrees — New Line of Authentic, Ready-To-Eat Meals Distributed Exclusively by Fortune Fish & Gourmet
CHICAGO, May 6, 2026 — Indian As Apple Pie, a Chicago-based food and lifestyle brand, steps into grocery freezer aisles with ready-to-eat Indian frozen entrees cooked and packaged in the Midwest.
The first retailer to offer the meals is long-time partner Niemann Harvest Market in two locations in Illinois and one in Indiana. Customers can now enjoy healthy, ready-to-eat meals from Anupy Singla, best known for her commitment to real ingredients, authentic Indian flavor, and food manufactured in America.
The line includes American fan favorites Butter Chicken, Chana Masala, Dal Makhani, and Palak Paneer, all served with a side of basmati rice. Each meal is fully cooked – just heat and eat in minutes – offering consumers an easy way to enjoy classic Indian dishes at home.
The line is made with the same ethos as Anupy’s spices and sauces, using clean
ingredients prepared and packaged in America to optimize freshness. “By offering ready-to-eat meals, we’re meeting people where they are – busy, hungry, and
looking for something they can feel good about eating and serving,” said Anupy Singla, founder of Indian as Apple Pie. “I always take it a step further to make sure the ingredients are simple, wholesome, and understandable to anyone.”
Grocery store chain Niemann Harvest Market is the first to pick up the new line at its Springfield, IL, location and quickly added it to their other locations in Champaign and Carmel, IN. Customers are already responding!
“Congrats on the new launch. We are currently eating it and loving it! I am eating the Dal Makhani, and Becky is eating the Butter Chicken. We’re both saying yummm and Becky loves how clean the ingredients are. She has already said that we are definitely picking this up again. So well done.” —Aaron and Becky from Springfield, IL
Anupy plans to also offer samosas, a delicious pastry stuffed with spiced potatoes and peas. To order, retailers can connect directly with Fortune Fish & Gourmet, distributor for all of Indian As Apple Pie’s products, including her proprietary Indian spice blends and plant-based Tikka Masala simmering sauce.
Anupy is also making waves in the public television space with the debut of her new
cooking show, Indian As Apple Pie, where she teaches viewers how to make homestyle Indian recipes in their own kitchens. The show debuted on May 2 on WTTW in Chicago and continues to roll out across the country on PBS member stations. Viewers can check their local listings for air dates and times and information on how to stream.
The 8-episode show has already been picked up by 28 states, including the top six U.S. public television markets (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Philadelphia, and Houston), with more expected. Currently, the potential audience is estimated at 174.7 million viewers.
“As a little girl who learned English from watching Sesame Street on public television, it’s the best place for me to call home,” said Anupy Singla, host of Indian As Apple Pie on WTTW-Chicago and PBS member stations across the nation. “I believe every child’s legacy should be good food, and I love empowering people, especially kids, with knowledge and confidence in the kitchen around all things Indian cuisine.”
