ree

Fresh off their annual Farm to Fork Feast in suburban Chicago, Illinois Stewardship Alliance is doubling downstate with its annual Harvest Celebration. The Alliance — the leading policy advocate for the state's local food and farm communities — will be throwing a big, tasty party this Sunday (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.) at Indian Creek Farmstead in Petersburg, about 25 miles north of Springfield.

There is a new twist this year that amps up the focus on locally produced food. Chef Joe Stanley of Proud Richard's restaurant in Jacksonville, Illinois is meeting the Alliance's challenge to source ingredients from producers within 100 miles of Petersburg.

The event is coming right up, so without further adieu, here's a link to buy tickets followed by the Alliance's full press release... which includes the menu you'll enjoy.

Tickets on sale for Springfield area farm dinner

empowering farmers & eaters on Sunday, October 12th

Springfield, IL - Tickets are now on sale for the Illinois Stewardship Alliance’s annual Harvest Celebration fundraiser. The Harvest Celebration will be held on Sunday, October 12th from 3pm to 6pm at Indian Creek Farmstead located in Petersburg.

This year guests will enjoy rich autumn flavors with a twist: a 100 mile local food challenge! Ingredients will be sourced in Illinois, within 100 miles from Petersburg and will be expertly integrated into a hearty dinner prepared by Chef Joe Standley of Proud Richard’s restaurant in Jacksonville. Chef Joe is up to the challenge and excited to create an authentic farm-to-table dinner just for the Alliance community. It will be a new spin on a beloved 15+ year tradition that honors local food and those who produce it.

This year’s locally-sourced menu includes a Delicata Squash Agrodolce Salad, Braised Chicken Thighs with Chocolate Stout Gravy, Herb Roasted Potatoes, Spicy Roasted Butternut Squash, and for the vegetarians a Tomato-Mushroom Ragu over Wilted Greens. Ingredients for the dinner are coming from the following farms: Mueller Family Farm - Bluffs, Gregory Farm - Jacksonville, Prairie Fruits Farm - Champaign, 4 Lees Farm - Virginia, and Ethnomycology - White Hall.

Chef Joe has worked in the culinary industry for over a decade and has developed his craft while working for outstanding Chicago eateries including Goose Island, Mindy’s Hot Chocolate and the Purple Pig.

Now in its 16th year, the Harvest Celebration highlights local food and those who produce it. Proceeds from the event support the Alliance’s mission to forge a statewide alliance of farmers, eaters, and food system leaders who are empowered to transform our local food and farm system to be more just and regenerative. We organize our members to develop solutions, educate policymakers, and inspire a growing movement of local food and farm champions.

If you are excited about an on-farm experience with a community of local food supporters, the Harvest Celebration is for you. Advance tickets are required.

Adult tickets are $85, children 15 years of age and under are $35, while children 3 years and under are free. Visit our website to purchase tickets at https://www.ilstewards.org/harvest/
