50 Helpers Needed for Food Recovery Events Tied to Convenience Stores Conference

Obtaining better-for-people-and-the-planet food for ourselves and our families is an important part of our movement. So is doing our utmost for fill needs for individuals and families who face food insecurity.
On October 17, two non-profit organizations in this space — FoodRecovery.Org and Chicago Food Rescue — are collaborating with the National Association of Convenience Stores convention at Chicago's McCormick Place to collect and pack between 25 and 35 tons of surplus food for donation and distribution to local food pantries.
The organizers are seeking up to an additional 50 volunteers to help with this important project. The hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with lunch provided. Assistance is needed to label donations; move donations from the convention booths to the staging areas; and stack, wrap and prepare donations for the delivery truck.
