Popular Logan Square Farmers Market Held Dry Run on April 12

Ed Kugler manages the venerable Ravinia Farmers Market in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park, where this year's outdoor season runs from June 3 to October 28. When he's not busy with his own market, Ed becomes his alter ego, Farmers Market Reporter, and drops in on farmers markets around metro Chicago — with Local Food Forum sharing his photos.
Ed hit the road on Sunday (April 12) and visited the popular Logan Square Farmers Market for its equivalent of a one-day spring training.
Logan Square doesn't officially open its season until Sunday, May 10. But after re-locating to a temporary location nearby during a major street realignment, the market is moving again to what it describes as its permanent location. So market organizers held a dry run on April 12 to make sure all systems are in place for the full-season market.
The market's official address is 2579 N. Milwaukee Ave, but vendors will line a walkway in the Logan Square Centennial Monument park and a stretch of Logan Boulevard that will be closed during the market sessions.
Here's a sampler of Ed's photos with some familiar vendor names. Local Food Forum later this week will also share his photos from the French Market opening in suburban Geneva.
