Local Food Forum recently published its roundup of Chicago-area winter farmers markets. Farmers markets make up a big part of my professional and personal life, and I've already visited three indoor markets this season (Green City, South Loop at Water Tower, and Logan Square), with more to come.

But maybe none of the handful of indoor markets is convenient for you. Or maybe the often frightful Chicago winter weather makes you just want to shop from home. Or maybe a brick-and-mortar store or pickup location is more your speed.

This article — which highlights several great options to get delicious, nutritious local food in the "off season" — is for you.

These farms and companies are listed in alphabetical order; some also participate in regional indoor farmers markets. We're happy to add any additional vendors if they (or their customers) reach out to us.

This list will be merged with the indoor farmers market list and will be pinned to the Local Food Forum website home page.
