Great Food, Inspired Leadership to Support the State's Leading Food Policy Advocate

ree

If you're in the Chicago region and your afternoon Saturday (September 27) is open, you should consider grabbing one of the last tickets for Illinois Stewardship Alliance Farm to Fork Feast. The event takes place at the historic McDonald Farm in southwest suburban Naperville from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Three big reasons to go:

  • To support Illinois Stewardship Alliance, which advances the goal of a better, healthier, more sustainable food system by persuading the state legislature to create new programs that benefit local farmers and eaters, and to change old policies that hinder progress.

  • You get to meet keynote speaker Marty Travis. Marty is a trailblazer in regenerative agriculture at his family's Spence Farm in the central Illinois community of Fairbury, and a marketing innovator whose Down at the Farms organization brings farmers in his region together to aggregate their products and sell to larger buyers that small farmers usually have trouble accessing. Marty will share how programs such as the Local Foods Purchase Assistance Program and the Local Foods Infrastructure Program are helping farmers move more local food into our communities—and why policy change through Illinois Stewardship Alliance is key to building a thriving food system

  • You'll get to enjoy delicious food prepared with local ingredients and refreshing beverages from local producers. Check out the menu shared by the Alliance.

You’ll enjoy a Latin-American inspired feast created just for us by Chef Sean Kelly at Northern Fork. With a lifelong passion for local food, and a creative flair for working with seasonally available ingredients, Chef Kelly is a perfect fit to curate our Feast.

Together, we will enjoy the following:

Farm Salad

A lively seasonal salad with an assortment of flavors and textures

Pumpkin Chicken Mole with Mexican Tomato Rice*

Featuring tomatoes from McDonald Farm and pasture-raised chicken sourced through Down at the Farms. This dish incorporates traditional Latin elements and highlights rich, savory flavors that put a harvest-inspired spin on a classic Latin sauce.

*Vegetarian option available

Southwestern Slaw

A crunchy side featuring jicama, kohlrabi and corn

Patatas Bravas Rellenos

A warm and indulgent dish with chiles, large crispy potato bites, melty cheese and a savory sofrito. A hearty complement to brighter flavors featured in our menu.

Colorful Sweets

Carrot and zucchini cupcakes and magenta-colored beet panna cotta tarts

Paired with local provisions

Wine from historic Lynfred Winery in Roselle. Exclusive Alliance Golden Harvest Ale made just for our 50th anniversary from

Engrained Brewing in Springfield & RMBR Kombucha, Chicago

All this in a beautiful farm setting. Don't miss out.
