And Tickets are on Sale for Their Sept. 18 Fundraising Dinner

Local Food Forum has been sharing a lot about Just Roots Chicago, an urban farming non-profit with a focus on addressing food insecurity among its community residents.
I subscribed this year to their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, and have turned my bi-weekly pickup visits to their flagship farm on Chicago's South Side into a photo-driven series on the transitions and beauty of our regional growing season.
So I am happy to share some exciting news about the organization and to help promote their big annual fundraising dinner event coming up on Thursday, September 18.
First the news: Just Roots is one of 14 organizations to receive a Creative Placemaking Award from Cook County Arts, a division of the Cook County Bureau of Economic Development. The awards go to community-led arts projects in suburban Chicago, and Just Roots is receiving the award for its second (and larger) farm in south suburban Sauk Village.
According to Cook County Arts' website:
Just Roots’ project will take place at It Takes A Village Farm, a three-acre greenspace that uses organic and regenerative practices to grow over 40 different fruits, vegetables, and herbs, all of which are distributed to residents within a 5-mile radius.
Contributing to the farm’s commitment to host arts and culture events, this project will feature a collaboration of local artists, designers, and community groups who will construct murals, a community gathering space, and ADA-compliant walkways at the site.

The September 18 dinner, titled Growing Together, is a great opportunity for you to learn more about Just Roots while enjoying a fabulous dinner prepared by this outstanding chef lineup:
Reynaldo Quinones, Avec
Sebastian White, The Evolved Network
Devon Quinn, Eden
Michael Lanzerotte, Meraki Hospitality Group
Moses Ponce, Good Eating Company
Q Ibraheem, private chef
The event will take place at Chicago Illuminating Company, located at 2110 S. Wabash, near the McCormick Place convention center. All of the dishes are made using fresh, organic produce from Just Roots' farms.
In addition to the amazing food, the event includes live music, an open bar, and a silent auction. All of the proceeds directly support Just Roots' mission. Attendees can also purchase an upgrade to take a VIP tour of their Chicago farm, located just a mile south of the event venue.
