Organized by state House Agriculture Chair Sonya Harper

Illinois State Rep. Sonya Harper of Chicago — who chairs the state House Agriculture Committee — is organizing a Black Farmers and Growers Lobby Day to take place at the state Capitol in Springfield on Wednesday, May 14 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event, focused on cultivating legislative support for the historically under-represented black farming community, is supported by Illinois Stewardship Alliance and other advocacy groups. It follows on the heels of the Alliance's broader Food and Farm Advocacy Day that took place at the Capitol on April 8.
According to the Alliance:
Black farmers, growers, and advocates of all backgrounds are coming together to make their voices heard in Springfield on Wednesday, May 14th.
You can join us in Springfield for the third annual Black Farmers and Growers Lobby Day.
The Lobby Day will bring farmers, growers, and partners from all over Illinois together at our state Capitol in Springfield to meet with our legislators and push for the passage of key policies that lift up BIPOC voices in the food and farm space.
Registration is free and includes breakfast and lunch. Travel support may be provided upon request, and bus transportation will be available leaving from Englewood on Chicago's South Side and Pembroke Township south of Chicago.
