Great grass-roots explanation of the benefits of better meat

When I started my second career as a Good Food advocate a dozen or so years ago, I learned quickly that it was hard to engage many people in a discussion of "the high cost of cheap food."
It didn't matter how cogent our evidence was that the conventional food system and Standard American Diet were producing increased long-term costs in health care and environmental sustainability. With generations of Americans focusing primarily on price (and bargains) when shopping for food, it was difficult to persuade even people with the means to spend more on food to pay a little extra for products that were better for people and the planet.
There has been a significant rise over the past decade in the number of consumers seeking food products that are healthier and produced with more sustainable, humane and fair practices. Yet it still is challenging to engage people about the high cost of cheap food.
That's why I was pleased to see Joe Wanda of Wanda Farms take on this issue on his latest email newsletter. Joe, a young livestock raiser in Harvard, Illinois, is one of the strongest farmer advocates of regenerative agriculture in the Chicago region.
His comments are shared below (and if you are persuaded by this stalwart steward of the land, they are links to buy beef from him):
The hidden costs of NOT buying beef
When people think of reversing climate change, they may associate it with making a lot of sacrifices. ‘Doesn't such a feat require much work?’
They go as far as entertaining the idea of killing off ALL the cows, because ‘cows fart and fart bad for atmosphere 🤓.’
What if I told you you could have your cake and eat it too?

A world where cows can graze green lush pasture (like this one above^^), while putting carbon INTO its soil (basically revitalizing our soil and reversing climate change)...
AND you can enjoy the tastes,
Not to mention the healing properties and benefits of 100% regeneratively raised and grass-fed beef
All with NO SHAME because, as some say, ‘everybody eats:’ The soil, the cows, your family, etc… All benefiting off of an abundance of essential nutrients and minerals.
Sounds like a WIN-WIN-WIN to me.
Get the privilege of enjoying ELEVATED levels of antioxidants and micro-nutrients like…
Glutathione (detoxifies the body, reduces inflammation, and enhances immunity)
Vitamins A, B, E (400% more than conventional beef)
Zinc & Iron
CLA (cancer-fighting)
(Ok, that's enough — there's too much to list here. If you want to know the details, click here to read our blog on this ‘super-beef’)
… while knowing that the soil your local beef came from is being regenerated with nutrients that will allow it to yield healthy food for many years to come, AND while allowing the humble cows from which your beef came from to live long healthy lives out on pasture, treated with the same universal love God has for us all.

An important takeaway is that while everyone else is playing checkers, you can play chess — considering regenerative grass-fed beef is like a cheat code to getting all of the essential nutrients you need in surplus.
Which also means… You can have a smaller meal yet still receive MORE nutritional benefits than someone eating conventional beef. And you know what? Priced per amount of nutrients, grass-fed beef may even cost LESS, too. (not only does this beef regenerate the land and your health, but your wallet as well ;)).
So, not only are you 1) saving the planet AND the animals, 2) seeing the smiles on your family’s and kid’s faces as you feed them the most nutritionally dense food possible (literally), 3) not giving money away to big corps/institutions… But also, 4) SAVING MONEY, whilst doing all of the former.
Ok, I know you just want your regenerative grass-fed beef already, so just click here to make a choice on what you want…
Oh, the oh so humble cow, single handedly leading the human race to collective victory, whilst feeding you with exceptionally tasting and quality beef that will keep you youthful and strong.
How can we repay and give thanks to this divine animal?
Honor the humble cow by getting a bulk share of one here...
Or simply getting a-la-carte (individual steaks and cuts) here, if you can’t resist ‘getting a piece of’ such a beautiful creature.
God Bless,
Joe
