Participants Will Present Their Policy Agenda to Lawmakers in Springfield

The 4th annual Black Farmers and Growers Lobby Day will take place at the Illinois state Capitol in Springfield on Wednesday, May 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Farmers, growers, and advocates for their policy issues across Illinois are coming together to make their voices heard.
The Lobby Day is orchestrated by state Rep. Sonya Harper of Chicago, who chairs the state House Agriculture Committee. She works in concert with a network of supporting organizations.
Illinois Stewardship Alliance (ISA) — the leading public policy advocate for the state's local food and farm communities — is one of Rep. Harper's partners in Lobby Day. According to ISA Deputy Director Liz Rupel, the participants will focus on the following issues:
Equity in AgricultureÂ
Land Access
Thriving Local Food Systems
Funding for Emerging Farmers
