This time of year, every Chicago region farmers market visit turns into a what's-new-in-peak-season dispatch.

I made a visit Saturday (June 27) to The Lincoln Park Farmers Market, where I saw (and bought) two newly arrived items: green beans (purchased from the stand of Noffke Family Farms of Coloma, Michigan) and black raspberries from Los Rodriguez Farm of Eau Claire, Michigan).

Some other breaking news: I'm leading a tour of The Lincoln Park Farmers Market along with legendary market manager Elsa Jacobson on Saturday, July 18 at 9 a.m. This event is co-presented by the Naturally Chicago non-profit. The market is located at 724 W. Armitage (near Halsted), on a path adjacent to Lincoln Park High School.

Here's my full haul from my Saturday market stop:

From left: asparagus, hothouse heirloom tomatoes, zucchini, black raspberries and cherries from Los Rodriguez Farm; blueberries and green beans from Noffke; and cremini mushrooms purchased from The Urban Canopy (Chicago).
