Visit Green City in Chicago and Markets in Grayslake, Wheaton and Geneva

Are Chicago local food lovers excited about the start of our region's outdoor market season? Based on the above photo taken at Green City Market on the same weekend last year (April 12 to be exact), I'd say the answer is an emphatic yes.

This is week 2 at Green City's flagship location in Lincoln Park, as they kicked off the region's outdoor season last Saturday (April 4).

It will be joined in this year's outdoor market club by the Saturday openings of the Grayslake Farmers Market in north suburban Lake County and the Wheaton French Market in the same name western suburb in DuPage County. Geneva French Market in even farther west Kane County will be the region's first Sunday market to open.

And now, your weekend market weather report...

Unlike last week, Saturday looks like it will dawn dry. Some difference of opinion on temperature: weather.com says a high of 50, NBC5 says 58. In either case, we've surely had colder April 11 days.

For Sunday in Geneva, dry and May-like with temperatures well into the 70s. Chicago April in a nutshell.

Surely you want to go (at least if there's a market convenient to you). The Local Food Forum Market Tracker follows.

In addition to the week's markets, I'll include (through the peak opening month of June), a list of the markets scheduled to open the following week. And you'll also find the region's remaining indoor markets. I hope you'll find it useful and will share with others who could benefit from the information.
