Check Out Illinois Stewardship Alliance's Community Gatherings

Farm Celebrations in Central Illinois (Sept. 8) and Chicago Region (Oct. 12)

Local Food Forum greatly admires the work of Illinois Stewardship Alliance, the foremost state policy advocate for the local farm and food community. So I'm happy to share two big celebrations — coinciding with the organization's 50th anniversary — that you should consider attending.

The first is the Golden Harvest Celebration on Sunday, September 8. This will take place at Indian Creek Farmstead in Petersburg, located not far from Springfield in central Illinois.

According to Illinois Stewardship Alliance:

————————————

At the Golden Harvest Celebration, you’ll enjoy a late summer evening at the picturesque Indian Creek Farmstead nestled in the rolling hills of Petersburg.

You’ll be delighted by live music from area acoustic artists and a cash bar featuring local brews to get your taste buds tingling.

Throughout the evening you’ll have the opportunity to bid on silent auction items and experiences curated just for local-food and farm enthusiasts like you.

Then you’ll savor a bountiful feast embracing the essence of the season with a buffet of local dishes prepared by the finest farm to table chefs in Central Illinois.

After dinner, you’ll enjoy the debut of a short film celebrating the 50 years of changemaking you’ve helped accomplish.

As the sun sets, you can sip, snack, toast, and talk with old and new friends from near and far.

You’ll feel good knowing that this evening helps build a new and better dreams for a food system to nourish and sustain our communities for the next 50 years.

Also, save the date of Saturday, October 12, for the 2nd Annual Farm to Fork Feast at McDonald Farm in the Chicago suburb of Naperville.

According to the organizers, this event will bring together farmers, eaters and food system leaders from northern Illinois for an evening of fellowship and the finest local food sourced from nearby farms. Proceeds raised support our work to bring farmers and eaters together to build a more just, local and regenerative food and farm system.
