Ravinia Farmers Market's Big Event Features Local Food at Summer Music Festival

You may have been to the Ravinia Festival summer music series in the north Chicago suburb of Highland Park. You may have sat on the lawn enjoying a picnic dinner. But you've never been to a concert — or a picnic — like this one.
Ravinia Farmers Market, one of the region's longest-running farmers markets, is staging its first-ever Taste of Ravinia Farmers Market in concert (pun partially intended) with the Ravinia Festival on August 20 — that's a week from Wednesday. This is an official event on the Ravinia Festival's summer music schedule.
And... as the lineup in the poster above underscores... this "farm to blanket" event will enable you to build the ideal evening picnic to accompany a night of bluegrass under the stars. Representing at the event are local and regional farmers, beverage producers, and vendors of prepared foods and other ready-to-eat items. You can also drop by and shop at the stands of curated artisans, body care product makers, and pet products.

You will enjoy all this plus a lineup of very talented musicians headlined by Henhouse Prowlers, the legendary Chicago-based bluegrass group. They go on the Carousel Stage at 7:30 p.m. as the closing act, preceded by Lucky Pickers at 4 p.m., Noah's Jam Jam Bourrée at 5:10 p.m., and Almond&Olive at 6:10 p.m.
This event will be a highlight of your summer. Click below for tickets.
Wait, you want even more local food and music on the 20th? Then start your day out at the weekly Ravinia Farmers Market, where you'll meet Ed Kugler, the market manager and the co-creator of the Ravinia festival event. The market is keeping its regular Wednesday hours of 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., with live music from 9 to 1.
